Amelia grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn in NYC to a creative international Australian & New Zealand family. A Suzuki trained classical singer and pianist, she has appeared at Carnegie Hall with Marvin Hamlisch and Paramount Theatre on Broadway with Ben Vereen. Armed with a very useful Biological Anthropology degree from Binghamton University, Amelia crashed into music scene at V2 Records (Moby, White Stripes) and Dubway Studios, a high profile recording facility in Manhattan. As an entrepreneur, she founded her own business, Give Music, writing personalised songs for any occasion.
Now living in London, Amelia pursues a full-time professional career in composition, working for Michael Nyman (The Piano) and writing music for the THAMES youth wind orchestra with the London Symphony Orchestra. Amelia has permeated the ever-growing festival scene in Europe as music coordinator for BritDoc08 and the East End Film Festival, liaising with David Arnold (James Bond) to submit original compositions for the featured Stereoscopic Time Lapse film installation.
Most recently, Amelia performs original quirky ukulele songs throughout London at venues such as The Troubadour (Bob Dylan, Paul Simon) and was the featured artist for the 2009 Spitalfields Market Open Air Lunchtime Concert Series. Gaining popularity, Amelia’s kosher satire, Swine Flu, has become a Radio hit with live performances on Resonance 104.4fm, The Art Show on Xtreme East Radio and Chorlton Arts Radio. Amelia spent the winter season 2009-10 playing ukulele at The Pearl Qatar, a five-star man-made island off the coast of Doha.
Teaming up with comedians Alan Gilbey and Steve Wells at this summer’s Spitalfields Music Festival, Amelia performs original site-specific uke tunes on A Magical History Tour throughout East London and then heads off on a European Tour with PeghouseRise in July.
